In August 2016 Tania consulted The Photobiomodulation Studio for treatment of severe skin lesions on both hands – diagnosed as granuloma annulare. She had had the condition for two years and it was particularly distressing as Tania is a music teacher and plays the piano.
Granuloma annulare is a condition with raised circular/ovoid reddish patches and clear, flat central areas. It causes inflammation and is considered to be an auto-immune condition rather than a fungal disease.
Treatment can involve corticosteroid creams and ointments, injections, freezing and oral medication such as antibiotics. Tania was told ‘Don’t worry, it’ll disappear in two year’s time anyway’.
However, Photobiomodulation Therapy is the safest and most comfortable treatment with no adverse side-effects. Tania underwent nine treatments in the NovoTHOR Whole Body Light Pod: three times a week on consecutive days, for three weeks with each session lasting a few minutes.
By the ninth session the lesions showed clear signs of diminishing in size and colour.
