About Rupert

Rupert Molloy retired as a chiropractor in 2012 after 37 years in full-time practice. He came to Oxford in 1976 where he was one of three chiropractors in the county at that time. He administered the NGO (Non-Governmental Organisation) Chiropractic Overseas Relief from 1996-2004 in Cuba. He taught himself Spanish and entered the Open University in 2001 to complete a degree in Modern Languages in 2009.

It was during this period that Rupert first met James Carroll of THOR Photomedicine and it was at a subsequent presentation by James in 2012 that Rupert ‘saw the light’. Since then he has practised Photobiomodulation Therapy (formerly known as Low-level Light Laser Therapy). To complete his range of equipment he has invested in a NovoThor Whole Body Light Pod, the first commercial light pod in the UK. (See below)

Rupert and Victoria moved to Henley in 2016 where Victoria enjoys easy access to rowing and Rupert enjoys learning the intricacies of golf and tennis (he also skis). They have four children.

About the equipment

NovoTHOR Whole Body Light Pod

NovoTHOR is the world’s first and only whole body Photobiomodulation device that operates within known effective parameters and delivers Photobiomodulation Therapy in just 8-15 minutes. The device is safe, relaxing, and has no negative side effects.

Photobiomodulation Therapy promotes regeneration, reduces inflammation and pain, is non-toxic, and non-invasive. Nike took a light pod to the 2016 Olympics in Rio to help athletes with injuries and recovery.

This device emits red and near infrared light and is built to specifications supported through photobiomodulation clinical trials.

Photobiomodulation clinical trials with similar wavelengths and power densities have demonstrated that:

  • Analgesia (the inability to feel pain) can be achieved with high power density lasers targeting the nerves at the spine, nerve roots, nerve plexuses, and along the course of the nerve
  • Tender points can be treated with a high power density laser

The THOR 200mW single point laser probe has a built in trigger point/tender point locator which tells you the best places to treat. It measures electrical resistance in the skin; wherever the resistance drops, that is the ideal point to treat.

The probes:

  • Large healing/anti-inflammatory 69 LED cluster
  • Analgesic 810nm 1 Watt laser cluster (5 x 200mW)
  • Trigger Point 810nm 200mW laser
