When you run are you exacerbating old injuries?
Had the joggers taken into account how they were running? None of them smiled or extended any greeting this morning: they were exhausted. Many of them wore the right gear but did they know how they were moving?
In an earlier blog I made observations about people walking. Well the same applies to runners. In fact the problems can be greater because the greater effort required accentuates any functional deficiencies.
The result is that those runners, commendable for their desire, enthusiasm and good intent, could be accentuating old injuries.
It’s not what we do it’s how we do it
I’ve signed up for five golf lessons – I’ve had two and according to the pro I am doing well – but now I must practise what I’ve learnt.
Previously I went to the driving range with all the right gear but no idea of how to strike the ball consistently. The uncoordinated golf swing made my old injuries worse, dampened my enthusiasm for golf and removed any smile from my face. It’s a different story now with a couple of lessons under my belt: I’m smiling all the way.
If you are intent on running without exacerbating old injuries learn how to run well and take advantage of Photobiomodulation Therapy*. The latter helps the body to recover better after running and helps those old injuries to heal faster.
*Photobiomodulation Therapy aids recovery of the body from oxidative stress. Oxidative stress is accepted as the underlying trigger for most diseases and degenerative conditions. It is also a component in the inflammatory phase of acute and chronic injuries.
